I heard
her singing
And I fell in love
With it.
My freedom in
her fingers and
grace to
me in her touch.
Black and white and black
keys
tinning my time for ever
Will I ever hear
mercy so sweet
as
I did here that sound?
Of my sister playing on
the piano
Beside her
singing together
who would've thought?
but it sounds wonderfully
in that way that the two notes next to each other
can be in the same key.
The
difference of a tiny vibration, unharmonious, and
perfect.
I sing low and you hit soprano
Switching octaves
flying free in the high ranges of a note
sinking low with you to swim in our vibrato
enjoying the sunlight of a melody
rain drumming in a D, G, F
chorus is laughter--
we just pick what we know, but
it's our hearts
it's all we know.
I don't sound this way with anyone else.
Perhaps one day he
who does will look me in the eye.
